Network Processor Breakthrough Claimed by Juniper
The company Juniper had earlier given several tantalizing details about the advanced technology which is part of its development pipeline last Tuesday. The founder of the company as well as the chief technology officer, who is Pradeep Sindhu, had announced that there will be a new silicon initiative coming from the company Juniper. He also claims that such was a quantum jump when it comes to current solutions. Pradeep Sindhu was also quoted as saying it is called a network instruction set processor. At the moment, it is also being designed in such a way that it can boost the optimization of networking data flows.Power-packed Technology
This new set of a processor also includes four chips that are built in a sixty five nanometer technology. It also encompasses around one point two billion transistors. Pradeep Sindhu also claims that this new type of silicon will provide them with around six hundred and four gigabytes per second of input and output (or I/O). Sindhu was also quoted as saying that such developments are sure to revolutionize the way network engines work. This is especially true of the confidence they have in the silicon product. Juniper’s rival, which is Cisco Systems, came out with its own type of silicon microprocessor last year. Theirs is called Quantum Flow microprocessor. The Quantum Flow microprocessor has more than forty cores and may also run around forty eight billion instructions each second. Juniper also says that it will take the analyst day and see it as an opportunity for them to make advanced announcements regarding the Status cloud and computing fabric.
Increased Scalability, and Then Some
This new fabric may also provide them with an increase in scalability in order to put together the physical data as well as the virtual data centers’ environments. Stratus will work to expand the portfolio of Juniper. Aside from this, it will also offer increased flexibility as well as choices for their customers. This was the news said by David Yen, who is the executive vice president of Juniper. However, Yen was not able to share more news especially about the granular details which Stratus could actually be made available. David Yen announced in response to that that for the time being they are not prepared. David Yen cited competitive reasons as to why they are holding back on the disclosure of their project details when it comes to the targeted milestones, pricing, availability and product configuration. Yen also noted that such is the reason as to why Juniper was saying that Stratus might also be under development. This was to let the customers know as well as the marker that this is a long term and strategic vendor for Juniper.
