First Quarter Results Enjoyed by Apple
As it turns out, there is just no stopping Apple. Last Wednesday, the company reported raking in a profit of one point sixty one billion dollars as a net quarterly profit. This figure equaled to around one dollar and seventy-eight cents for each diluted share and was based on a total revenue of a whopping ten point seventeen billion US dollars to top off the first fiscal quarter which had ended on December 27, 2008.Big Growth Reports for Apple Company
Their revenue had grown to an astonishing six percent over their nine point six billion US dollars worth of revenues totaled in the fourth quarter of 2007. Of course, this was also flat over their net revenue of around one point fifty-eight billion US dollars to rest at one dollar and seventy six cents for each diluted share. Their gross profit margin was actually at thirty four point seven percent and again equaled to the sales they have had in the same quarter for the year 2007. News from international sales actually accounted for around forty six percent of the total revenues for this quarter and could be said as the one thing that helped to boost their sales.
One example that can be easily illustrated is that the sales made by iPod in the United States actually pegged in at three percent from the fourth quarter reports of the year 2007. This was according to the Chief Financial Officer of Apple by the name of Peter Oppenheimer. Mr. Oppenheimer had hosted a conference call with the financial analysts to reveal these news. However, for the quarter itself Apple had been able to sell roughly around twenty two point seven million iPods which indicates a three percent growth compared to the previous year.
Millions in Sales, Billions in Revenues
All of those sales were actually the ones from the international sector, according to Peter Oppenheimer. The company Apple claims a seventy percent domination of the MP3 or portable music player market just in the United States alone – along with England and Australia, plus a sixty percent domination in Japan and fifty percent in Canada. Aside from their sales in iPods, apple was also able to sell around two point five million Macintosh computers from the same quarter to total a nine percent unit growth from the 2007 quarter reports. It was because of the Mac Book which was majorly refreshed just last October, that had brought in the thirty four percent rise they currently enjoy over their 2007 sales to total to one point eight million units sold – or seventy two percent of all the computer sales of Apple. The sales of desktop units were actually down to twenty five percent from the year but Oppenheimer had also noted that their 2007 growth was pretty much up by fifty three percent compared to the previous year.
