Samsung's Satisfactory Sound Bar

Somebody who has set up a home theater system should know about clutter. Wires hidden behind walls entails payment so you will just have to bear with a Hydra of cords connecting to disc players, game consoles, multi-media receivers and other devices for your big screen television.

Samsung’s HT-X810 Sound Bar aims to clean up the clutter. This unit has a single horizontal speaker with wireless connection to a subwoofer that can be placed anywhere in the room. The Samsung unit uses elegant programming to simulate 2.1 Dolby surround sound system.

The system is worth $600 and is one of the most stylish sound bars. It has an all black finish, front metal grille and molded plastic accents on the bottom which is meant to complement similar accents. There is a slot-loading drive hidden under its drop-down door. There is also a small readout display and touch controls for the player, volume and power on the right.

The subwoofer, for delivering those low-frequency sounds, offers a black gloss front and top panel, and automatically connects wirelessly to the system. That frequency is shared by cordless phones and microwaves.

Some Upsides

The HT_X810 measures 39.3 inches wide by 6.43 in. deep by 7.5 in. high. It should take just a few minutes to set-up. Samsung also includes a wall mount which would extend setup time by at least 30 minutes.

The unit also comes with a remote control similar to those found on lower-cost Samsung sets, with additional features that let you adjust center channel and subwoofer volume.

The HT-X810 can convert standard video all the way up to the full HD resolution of 1080p. Though it doesn’t give out the same image quality as a high-definition player but it sure does make the picture look better.
 
Overall, the Samsung unit offers fairly impressive video. HDTVs also do some of the work in determining picture quality, on the giant 60-in. No slightly jagged edges can be seen that would bother an average viewer.
