Macworld Keynote won’t be Given by Steve Jobs
One move that shocked and made investors all over the world tremble was when apple announced that Steve Jobs will not be the one to deliver the keynote address for the 2009 Macworld. This was the astonishing news that was announced just recently last Thursday.More Revelations from the Revolutionary Computer Giant
It was in this same press release (which was only issued three weeks prior to the actual event) wherein the company had announced that after the 2009 Macworld, their company shall no longer be a participant in such industry showcases that adopt its name right from the flagship product of the company. What disturbed most of the investors and members of the press was the fact that Apple’s press release did not offer any kind of explanation whatsoever as to why company CEO and founder Steve Jobs opted not to deliver the usual keynote speech he always makes at these events.
This was doubled because of the fact that Macworld is indeed one of the most profound signal events that jumpstart every business year for many Apple watchers. This keynote speech will then be delivered by Phil Schiller, the marketing vice president of Apple, who clearly shows lacking in terms of showmanship and star power (as what Steve Jobs possesses). Such a switch for the keynote will very likely raise a lot of questions as to the overall health condition of CEO Steve Jobs, who has already struggled with an earlier complication this year as a result of a 2004 surgery that was performed on him. This surgery was done in order to remove an existing tumor found in his pancreas.
Future at a Standstill for Apple Leaders and Followers
The shares of Apple had closed this particular day at one fraction higher and then promptly plummeted around six percent in just a couple of hours since trading opened. It finally settled at around ninety two point ninety four, which was actually down by two point six percent. The first ever Macworld was hosted in the city of San Francisco back in the year 1985. Such an expo was actually held two times a year until 2005 rolled in and the company decided to scale it back to just a single, annual event. And because of the way things are going now, people are looking at the future of Apple with some doubts. Paul Kent, a vice president at the IDG World Expo as well as general manager for the 2009 Macworld, mentioned in his prepared statement that they are actually on track for a truly terrific show this coming year. Paul Kent also insists that IDG is very much committed to being able to stage the Macworld in the Moscone Center in San Francisco this coming January 2010, but had declined to elaborate more on the matter.
