Sebastien Galy Now Part of BNP Paribas New York Strategy Team in Foreign Exchange

A new addition has been made to the New York strategy team of BNP Paribas on its foreign exchange department. Sebastien Galy is now to head the research division of the foreign exchange strategy team that covers the currency markets in the whole world. He will be responsible for giving solutions on the foreign exchange market of BNP Paribas clients. These include those in the leverage account, real account, and corporate accounts of BNP Paribas. Galy will be directly under the supervision of Hans-Guenter Redeker, the strategy team head for foreign exchange worldwide and Christian Mundigo, head of trading for fixed income in the US region.

Sebastien Galy formerly held the senior position for currency strategist in London where he worked for Dresdner Kleinwort. He also previously handled the foreign exchange portfolio of the global UBS, for the strategic allocation of assets of the company’s non-institutional base. His previous work experiences also holding different key positions in renowned institutions such as the Bank for International Settlements, being in the academe, as well as a Cameroon IMF analyst for a CFA devaluation.

When asked about his views on Sebastien Galy’s appointment, Redeker commented that he finds Sebastien Galy quite qualified to handle the position. He further mentioned Sebastien Galy’s outstanding track record on the field of quantitative and market analysis which he feels will benefit greatly their clients, especially in the foreign exchange market.

BNP Paribas has been one of the top European banks dealing with the global financial market. They are actually one of four banks that have shown much strength over the past years. This is composed of equities, corporate finance, and fixed income. They also handle the financing business, including export, project finance, commodities, structured finance, and energy. Their strengths are concentrated on 3 specific sectors, particularly derivatives, capital markets and structured finance. In derivatives, they include credit, rates, Forex, equity and commodity derivatives. For the capital markets, they are included among the top houses in Europe that deal with DCM and ECM. These comprise bond issues, convertibles, shares, and securitization. In structured finance, they belong to the top leaders in the world that deal with commodity and project finance, acquisition and export.
